Nowadays many mattress covers are vinyl free, but for scabies a vinyl cover is still effective and may even be better than non-vinyl. If you want, you can also give it a spray and wipe with some permethrin spray also. Try to keep this light, as you don’t want to be sleeping on a mattress covered with insecticide. A few surface sprays and a quick wipe will suffice.
Doctors recommend prescription creams containing benzyl benzoate as the best way to kill the mites. However, studies do show that some natural remedies could work as well. After confirming that you have scabies, you can try some of these topical treatments to see if they help. If you get scabies, you should visit your doctor for a prescription that will treat the condition.
Things you can do during treatment to stop scabies spreading
Also try to avoid scratching the best you can, and wash your hands regularly. These can be got rid of effectively by treating them with medications. Medications kill the mites and also their eggs. The doctors usually recommend treatment for the entire family of the patient because scabies is highly contagious. Everytime I go and look it is mostly lint. Fine lint or cotton and not scabies at all. I’m living with my grandparents at the moment and unfortunately it seems like my grandmother has picked up some scabies. It doesn’t seem to have affected my grandfather or myself at all.
Baking Soda Bath
Close skin-to-skin contact is the most common way to spread scabies. Vacuum your whole house, including furniture, on the day that you begin treatment. Soap can further irritate your skin when you have scabies. Wash with water, and avoid soap or scented lotions while your skin is inflamed.
You and your husband MUSt treat yourselves also. There’s a very good chance you have it (symptoms only show after 4-6 weeks). Just follow the guide as best you can, it works. Stuff them in a garbage back and leave them for 3 days, preferably in the sun. Also, would you recommend getting rid of your mattress? But it doesn’t sound like it is easy to clean the mattress well, and then, if you succeeded in killing the mites, you’d still have a lot of mite excrement left there.

After all that I treated myself again and quarantined myself 24 hours. This study info gels with other sites I’ve come across in acknowledging rising resistance in the scabies mite to both permectin and Ivermectin. Moxidectin does not demonstrate similar resistance.
Scabies can make you lose your mind quickly. I apologize in advance for the lengthy post. I wouldn’t be surprised if they worked for other mites, but I can’t be certain as haven’t done any research on that. I certainly don’t think it would be harmful though. Hi, did you do a second round of permetherin/ivermectin? Also the itch is pretty normal, what you don’t want to see is new burrows in your skin .
Home remedies for scabies include over-the-counter medications, essential oils, oatmeal baths, Vaseline, and more. Wash all towels and bedding in hot water. Wash bedding daily until you’ve not seen new bumps for at least a week.
